Scope

This Privacy Policy informs users about the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of data collected and used by the responsible provider.

The legal framework for data protection is provided by the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG).

Collection of general information

Every time our online offerings are accessed, information is automatically recorded by us or by the web space provider. This information, also referred to as server log files (see below), is general in nature and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about you as a person.

Without this data, it would in some cases be technically impossible to deliver and display website content. In this respect, collecting the data is strictly necessary. In addition, we use the anonymous information for statistical purposes. It helps us to optimize our offering and our technology.

We reserve the right to check the log files retrospectively if there is a suspicion that our offerings are being used unlawfully.

Handling of personal data

Personal data is any information by which a person can be uniquely identified. It is therefore data that can be traced back to a person.

Such personal data includes, for example, first name and surname, telephone number and email address.

This data is only collected, used and, where applicable, passed on by the provider if the law expressly permits this or if the user consents to the collection, processing, use and disclosure of the data.

Registration with MID

If you register with us in order to use personalized services, personal contact and communication data is collected in accordance with the respective purpose of the registration (download, newsletter, access to the customer area, etc.). This includes at least your name and email address, and possibly also your address, your company and your telephone number.

Registration provides access to services and content that are only available to registered users. If required, registered users can change or delete the data provided during registration at any time.

On request, we will of course tell you which personal data has been collected and stored. In addition, we will correct or delete the data on request, provided that no statutory retention obligations conflict with your request. Contact form

If you contact us via an online form or by email, we store the information you provide in order to answer your enquiry and to be able to ask any follow-up questions.

Integration of third-party services and content

Our offering sometimes includes content, services and features from other providers. These include, for example, maps provided by Google Maps, videos from YouTube, and graphics and images from other websites. In order for this data to be retrieved and displayed in the user’s browser, transmission of the IP address is strictly necessary. The providers (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) therefore become aware of the respective user’s IP address.

Although we endeavour to use only third-party providers that use the IP address solely to deliver content, we have no influence over whether the IP address may be stored. In such cases, this process serves statistical purposes, among other things. If we become aware that the IP address is being stored, we will inform our users accordingly.

Cookies

Our websites use so-called cookies. These are text files that are stored on your computer from the server. They contain information about the browser, the IP address, the operating system and the internet connection. We do not pass this data on to third parties or link it to personal data without your consent.

Cookies serve two main purposes. They help us to make it easier for you to navigate our offerings and enable the websites to be displayed correctly. They are not used to introduce viruses or to start programs.

Users can also access our offering without cookies. To do so, the corresponding settings must be changed in the browser. Please consult your browser’s help function to find out how to disable cookies. However, we would like to point out that this may impair some functions of our websites and reduce ease of use.

Server log files

The provider of our websites automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

Browser type and browser version
Operating system used
Referrer URL
Host name of the accessing computer
Time of the server request

This data cannot be attributed to specific individuals. This data is not merged with other data sources. We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of unlawful use.

Google Web Fonts

To ensure that fonts are displayed consistently, our websites use so-called web fonts provided by Google. When you open a page, your browser loads the required web fonts into your browser cache in order to display text and fonts correctly.

For this purpose, the browser you are using must connect to Google’s servers. This means Google becomes aware that our website has been accessed via your IP address. Google Web Fonts are used in the interest of a consistent and appealing presentation of our online offerings. This constitutes a legitimate interest as defined by Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

If your browser does not support web fonts, a standard font from your computer is used.

Use of Google Analytics

Our websites use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are stored on your computer and that enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our websites is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, because IP anonymization has been activated on these websites, your IP address will first be truncated by Google within the member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there.

On behalf of the operator of the websites, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide the website operator with further services relating to website and internet use. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data. You can prevent cookies from being stored by adjusting the settings of your browser software accordingly. However, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent.

Demographic characteristics in Google Analytics

Our websites use the “demographic characteristics” function of Google Analytics. This makes it possible to generate reports containing information about the age, gender and interests of site visitors.

This data comes from interest-based advertising by Google and from visitor data provided by third parties. This data cannot be attributed to any specific person. You can deactivate this function at any time via the ad settings in your Google account, or generally prohibit the collection of your data by Google Analytics as described under “Objection to data collection”.

HubSpot

We use HubSpot for registration processes and online marketing activities. This is an integrated software solution with which we cover various aspects.

These include, among others:

Content management (websites and blogs)
Landing pages and contact forms
Contact and customer relationship management (CRM)
Email (automated mailings, e.g. to provide downloads or newsletters)
Social media publishing & reporting
Reporting (e.g. traffic sources, visits, etc.)

Our registration service enables visitors to our websites to find out more about our company, download content and provide their contact information as well as further demographic information.

This information, as well as the content of our websites, is stored on servers belonging to our software partner HubSpot. We may use it to get in touch with visitors to our websites and to determine which of our company’s services are of interest to them.

All information we collect is subject to this Privacy Policy. We use all collected information exclusively to optimize our marketing.

Data minimization

In accordance with the principles of data avoidance and data minimization, we store personal data only for as long as it is necessary or as required by law (statutory retention period). If the purpose of the information collected no longer applies or the retention period expires, we block or delete the data.

Your rights to information, correction, blocking, deletion and objection

You have the right, upon request, to obtain information free of charge about the personal data stored by us and/or to request its correction, blocking or deletion. Exceptions: the data storage is required for business transactions, or the data is subject to a statutory retention obligation.

In order to be able to take a data block into account at any time, it is necessary to keep the data in a blocking file for control purposes. If there is no statutory archiving obligation, you can also request the deletion of this data. Otherwise, we will block the data if you so wish.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

To ensure that our Privacy Policy always complies with current legal requirements, we reserve the right to make changes at any time. This also applies if the Privacy Policy has to be adapted due to new or revised offerings, such as new services. The new Privacy Policy then applies the next time you visit our offering.
