The organisation maps the part of your company's organisational structure and certain aspects of its process organisation that are relevant for the Process Space.

## What is the purpose of the organisation? [#wozu-dient-die-organisation]

An organisation serves to divide control over economic resources and business processes in a company among organisational units. Competencies and tasks are described by roles (positions) that are performed by specific people.

The organisational structure maps the system of competencies available in a company. It covers both the aspects of vertical organisational design, referred to as the organisational structure, and those of horizontal coordination, known as the process organisation. In Bpanda, alongside the hierarchical relationships between organisational units, other relationship types (e.g. functional cooperation) can also be managed.

As a **BPM Manager**, you build up the organisational structure of the part of your company that is relevant for the Process Space as a tree structure with several levels.

## How do I handle the area? [#wie-handhabe-ich-den-bereich]

You can expand the area to the full window width and restrict it to the side area.

You can expand and collapse sections using the arrow icons.

## Which organisational aspects are managed? [#welche-organisationsaspekte-werden-verwaltet]

To manage the organisation in the Process Space, the following tasks generally need to be completed:

- **Create the organisational structure**

If, in addition to the process hierarchy, the associated organisational structure is also to be used in Bpanda, this is done on the **Organisation** page. Such links arise from the organisational roles or units assigned to a process.
- **Assign persons responsible and members**

You assign the **persons responsible**, **deputies** and members to the organisational units from the Bpanda users.
- Extend relationships between organisational units

Bpanda offers directed and undirected relationship types to supplement the hierarchical relationships within the organisational structure, for example to represent functional cooperation between hierarchically independent organisational units.
- **Create organisational roles**

Organisational roles describe the competencies and tasks of a position within the organisation. You can assign the Bpanda users to these roles.

You can assign organisational roles and organisational units to each other in both directions.
- **Link processes**

On the process page, authorised users can assign organisational roles and units to the process or to a lane. This creates a direct link between the processes and the organisation. The linked processes are displayed automatically for the organisational roles and organisational units.
- **Assign types**

Organisational units, their relationships and organisational roles can be assigned types in order to map how they are grouped.

The individual tasks are described in the topics [Define organisation and role types](/manage-and-configure/set-types), [Manage organisational structure](/manage-and-configure/manage-org-structure), [Manage organisational roles](/manage-and-configure/manage-org-roles) and [Manage employees](/manage-and-configure/manage-employees).
