As an expert, the **Process Owner** is responsible for the content of a process. An additional **Process Owner** mainly serves to establish a deputy.

## Prerequisites [#voraussetzungen]

You are a **BPM Manager** or **Process Owner**.

## Background [#zusammenhang]

The **Process Owner** is the contact person for all Process Users and has all permissions for the process they are responsible for.

They can set the visibility of the process, manage the roles and the attachments for the process, and organize the release of a new process version by means of a review.

Note: Initially, when a new process is imported or submitted, the user performing the action becomes the **Process Owner**. The initial import or submission of a process can only be performed by a **BPM Manager** or **Designer**.

Setting a different **Process Owner** after the initial import or submission of a process therefore means transferring responsibility for the process to the actual subject matter expert.

Setting an additional **Process Owner** mainly serves to establish a deputy.

For all further updates of a process by revisions, the assignments of users to the process-related roles are retained.

The **Assign Process Owners** page contains a table with a selection column and the columns **Process Name**, **Process Level** and **Process Owners**, each of which you can restrict to specific entries using **Filters**.

The check boxes are used to select the processes to which the same **Process Owners** are to be assigned.

**Information** can be called up for each process.

## How to Proceed [#so-gehst-du-vor]

1. In the main menu, select **Manage Processes**.

   The overview page of the same name is displayed.
2. Select the **Actions** tab.
3. Select the **Assign Process Owners** action in the **Roles and Permissions** tile.

   The page of the same name is displayed.

   The table of processes contains, spread over several pages if necessary, all processes of the Process Space for the BPM Manager and all processes for which they are responsible for a **Process Owner**.
4. To reduce the number of page changes required for the selection, restrict the list of processes using the filters. To do so, click the filter, set the filter and close the filter selection by clicking the filter again.

   The table is restricted accordingly.
5. Select the check boxes of the processes to which you want to assign the same Process Owners.
6. Click **Perform action on {{number}} process(es)**.

   A selection dialog with users is displayed.
7. Select the check boxes of the users you want to assign to the selected processes as Process Owners.
8. To remove a **Process Owner**, clear their check box.
9. To overwrite the current **Process Owners** with your selection, click **Overwrite**.

   The required selection is applied and displayed in the **Process Owners** column.
10. To add your selection to the current **Process Owners**, click **Add**.

    The selection is applied to the **Process Owners** column.
