As an expert, the Process Owner is responsible for the content of a process. An additional Process Owner mainly serves to establish a deputy.

## Prerequisites [#voraussetzungen]

You are a **BPM Manager** or **Process Owner**.

## Context [#zusammenhang]

The **Process Owner** is the contact person for all **Process Users** and has all permissions for the process they are responsible for.

They can set the visibility of the process, manage the roles and the attachments for the process and organize the release of a new process version by means of a **Review**.

Note: Initially, when a new process is imported or submitted, the executing user becomes the **Process Owner**. The initial import or submission of a process can only be carried out by a **BPM Manager** or **Designer**.

Defining another **Process Owner** after the initial import or submission of a process therefore means transferring process ownership to the actual subject matter expert.

Defining an additional **Process Owner** mainly serves to establish a deputy.

For all further updates of a process by means of revisions, the assignments of users to the process-related roles are retained.

## How to proceed [#so-gehst-du-vor]

1. On the process page, click ⋮ **Settings and Information**.

   The dialog of the same name appears.
2. Click **Roles and Permissions**.

   The page displays the sections **Process Owners**, **Process Contributors**, **Process Participants** and **Blocked Users**.
3. To add a Process Owner, click the edit icon in the **Process Owners** section.

   The **Select Process Owners** dialog appears.
4. To search for a user by name or email address, enter a corresponding character string in the search field.

   The list is narrowed down to the matching entries.
5. To define a user as a **Process Owner**, select the checkbox.
6. To display all current **Process Owners**, activate the **Selected only** selection filter.

   The current **Process Owners** are displayed.
7. To confirm the current **Process Owners**, click **Apply selection**.

   The applied **Process Owners** are listed.
8. To remove a **Process Owner**, clear the selection.

   The user is removed as a Process Owner.
