As a **Process Owner**, you can record risks and opportunities for processes and process elements and assess them in a matrix of probability of occurrence and extent of damage. The resulting priority and the control support help you focus on the relevant levers in the process landscape.

## Recording and Assessing Risks and Opportunities [#risiken-und-chancen-erfassen-und-bewerten]

Being responsible for a process includes addressing its **opportunities** and **risks**. The **risk analysis** functions support you in doing so.

Note: A **risk analysis** can only be created for published process versions, not for processes that are under review.

## Carrying Out Control Assessments [#kontrollbewertungen-vornehmen]

Controls for risks serve to monitor them. They ensure that changes relating to the risk are identified. Control assessments serve to check the effectiveness of the controls.

## Recording a Risk or Opportunity [#risiko-oder-chance-erfassen]

As a **Process Owner**, you record and assess the opportunities and risks of a process or a process element in a matrix of probability of occurrence and extent of damage. Their priority is derived from this.

You record the opportunities and risks of the processes you are responsible for separately for the overall process and for individual elements in a matrix of probability of occurrence and extent of impact as success or damage. Bpanda automatically derives the priority with regard to risk management from this.

Opportunity shows the extent of success and risk shows the extent of damage

Risks for the overall process and individual process elements can arise, for example, from standards or legal requirements that have not yet been implemented. Opportunities for the overall process and individual process elements can be based, for example, on the use of new technologies.

Templates that the **Risk Manager** can provide can be used for simple and consistent recording.

The recorded opportunities and risks are displayed on the process or the relevant process elements with consistent symbols. This makes it easier to assess the process as a whole (e.g. very risky or full of opportunities).

Control assessments should be carried out in particular for processes or process elements with a high priority so that developments can be influenced in a targeted manner.

The **Risk Manager** gains an overview of the key opportunities and risks in the process landscape from the assessed processes and process elements. Once the **Process Owner** has recorded the risks and opportunities, they must be published by the **Risk Manager** in order to be visible to the authorized **Process Users**.
